About Me
Hey, I’m Kale.
I’m a graphic designer originally from Northern Ireland. I’m all about design that actually feels like something—raw, real, and honest. I don’t just make things look nice; I design with intention, often pulling from personal experiences like autism, anxiety, music, and the louder sides of life to create work that connects.
My background is rooted in print, and I’ve got a thing for tangible, hands-on design—zines, posters, type-heavy pieces, and anything with texture or grit. I’m not afraid to get personal with my work if it means saying something that matters. Whether I’m building a brand identity, creating visuals for a campaign, or crafting experimental pieces, I bring a mix of thoughtfulness, directness, and a little edge to the table.
If you're looking for someone who brings both heart and clarity to a project—and isn’t afraid to push a few creative boundaries—let’s talk.

Cassette J card “Avian Influenza”
This Uni Project was my favourite for 2 reasons.
1. The breif itself was very boring but I managed to work around it to make something that I was excited to produce.
2. The outcome was so much better than I thought it wwould be.
This breif tasked me with listening to a BBC Radio portion about farming and create an outcome based on the topics discussed. In the episode they spoke abput how avian influenze was affecting farmers and all the procautions they took for it, although in reality it was a pretty boring topic, I managed to make it my own by including darker undertones, I then made the theme of it like a peice of black metal album art, because making a Cassette was cheap and affordable for me this is the outcome I chose.
Photo book “Throwaway”
This uni project was really fun because I experimented the most in this project with type, layout and interactabilty.
This breif asked to got around bristol and get 24 photos from a list of titles, we were aksed to use a camera that produces film, I decided to get a disposable camera.
Then I had to use those photos in any medium I wanted, because the restriction were non-existant I decided to make a book and with interactve tabs that would be turned aswel as making the book it’s own unique size.
Map “A Sarcastic Guide to Saint George”
This uni projct asked me to make a fold-out leaftlet map of Saint George in bristol.
This breif had said that I was onl allowed to use the risograph and that I could only use one A3Page and fold it without cutting it.
I went to Saint george and took all the photos in the leaflet designing for a folded document was a very useful task as it helped me undestand how to set up a document in any folded form.
Paris Olympics Poster
This Uni project was the 1st breif that I was goevn that give me follow a very specific design spec.
This breif tasked me woth creating a screenpirnted poster for the Paris Olympics. I had to include one sport chosen from the olympics and make the poster based on it.
Because it was only a 2 colour screenprint I didnt have much to work with, I had 3 colours, the page and then the ink.
Using 3 colours I made the most use of them, I also figured out the more accurate overlays you need in your screenprint the harder it will be, which made mine very hard, I had 3 attempts and only got 1 good one.
Avant Garde Type Specimen
This uni project asked me to create a type specimen that celebrated the font “Avant Garde”.
My entire philospohy with this book was to make it experimental without it taking away from the book celebrating the font as the main focus, so I couldn’t go completley wild with the design. Despite this I made visually unique interpretation of how the font would be displayed. I also used fairly strange paper stocks, for the cover I used somethign called Sommer set velvet and matte for the internal pages, togtehr these make the book feel very distinct and unique. The colour Palatte was also unique as it used purples pinks and blues, these colours gave off a sense of curiosity and royalty.
200 Page Flipbook
This uni Project asked me to create a book which had 200 pages. This was part of the course where I had to design around one topic, the topic being social anxiety.
The flipbook is massive and cost me £35 to produce, the conecpt is that there are 2 stories in the book and you flip both ways to read them both and they are contrasting in terms of the story, one is falling in private and the other falling in front of people and how that affects you. I made the animation on flipnote stidio on a nintendo DS which have it it’s unique art style.
Body Lanuage Publicaiton
This uni Breif asked me to create a publcaiton again on the topic of Social Anxiety, I was to listen to any podcast episode from stuff you should know and then make a publication that used at least 3 different stocks.
I chose the episode called body language as it was the closest thing that I could find to the topic of social anxiety.
